Back to Camberwell plaques

The memorial fountain, errected in 1930, commemorates Arthur Brooks who was a local estate agent and secretary of the Empire Day Celebrations Committee, promoting an annual festival in the Surrey Hills Gardens on the 24th of May. This was a popular attraction for Melbourne people for many years with bands, processions, a bonfire and fireworks.
