"During the 1920s, the gaps in Maling Road were largely filled in, usually by single storey shops without residences. Examples include James Bisset's four new brick premises built in 1921 opposite his bootshop and adjoining Green's new shops in Theatre Place. Several others including Raymond Williams' dental surgery were built between the bank and the post office. Similarly, on the other side of Maling Road, James Wrigley built thirteen single-storey shops in the early 1920s, thereby filling most of the gaps between Malone's and Bryson Street."
