Back to Hawthorn Historic Plaques
One of the first homes built on the subdivision of "Burwood" as the St. James Park Estate in 1872/3, for Thomas Laidley. His family occupied it until after much of its view over the river disappeared with subsequent houses, twenty years later. Sir John Monash, engineer and soldier, occupied the house circa 1896.
