14 Plaques have been positioned at sites in Maling Road and Canterbury Road that describe locations of historical interest, as identified by the Canterbury History Group.

Much of the information about these historical sites were found in the book "Visions of a Village: Canterbury Shops and Shopping 1880s - 1990s" by Don Gibb & Stuart Warmington, which was published by the Canterbury History Group in 1995.
